Team Van der Toorn Attorneys Roermond
Our office is located in the center of Roermond, within walking distance of the station and directly across from the courthouse. Experienced lawyers work here on various legal matters, supported by a secretary and a paralegal. Our lawyers have expertise in various legal areas, including:

Our lawyers are registered in the Dutch Bar Association's register of legal areas. Karin van Tulden is registered in personal and family law, while Arie van der Toorn specializes in criminal law. In accordance with this registration, they are obligated to obtain ten training credits annually in their registered legal area. In addition, Arie and Karin specialize in asylum and immigration law, as well as the Compulsory Mental Healthcare Act, the Compulsory Care Act, and the Forensic Care Act.

Meet our lawyers and their specializations


Sworn in: 2008
Karin studied Dutch law at Maastricht University, specializing in private law. She has been working as a lawyer at our firm since January 2008. She specializes in asylum and immigration law, and immigration detention. She also specializes in personal and family law and handles cases under the Compulsory Mental Healthcare Act, the Compulsory Care Act, and the Forensic Care Act.
Mrs. KPE (Karin) van Tulden

Sworn in: 1997
Arie was an all-round police officer with the municipal police force in The Hague and subsequently completed officer training at the Dutch Police Academy in Apeldoorn. He studied Dutch law, specializing in criminal law and criminology. He served as acting chief of police with the Goes municipal police force and subsequently as chief of detectives with the Eindhoven municipal police force, and later with the Brabant South-East regional police force. Arie completed a two-year internship at the Roermond court and established himself as an independent lawyer in Roermond in 1997. He completed the criminal law specialization program of the Dutch Bar Association and also completed specialized training in asylum and immigration law. He is a member of the Dutch Association of Asylum Lawyers and Lawyers. He also handles cases under the Compulsory Mental Healthcare Act, the Compulsory Care Act, and the Forensic Care Act, and represents victims in criminal cases.
Mr. drs. A. (Arie) van der Toorn

Sworn in: 2021
Mrs. NRH (Noëlle) Boon
Noëlle studied Dutch Law and Globalization and Law, specializing in Human Rights, at Maastricht University. She was sworn in as a lawyer in 2021 and specializes in asylum and immigration law. During her studies, she completed nine weeks of internships in Tanzania and in the Netherlands at a law firm specializing in asylum and immigration law. She discovered her affinity for these two areas of law early on. Therefore, during her studies, she chose to work as a paralegal at the law firm where she interned, to gain more knowledge and experience in these areas of law. Starting in mid-2025, she will join the team at our office and will expand her work to other legal areas.

Mrs. GELM (Glenda) Cohen
Glenda joined our firm as a secretary at the end of 2015. She is responsible for the secretarial support and financial administration of our law firm. She is also happy to answer your questions by phone.

Mrs. I. (Isa) Janssen
Isa has been working at our office since January 2024, supporting the lawyers and secretariat. She holds a bachelor's degree in Dutch law and is currently pursuing a master's degree in criminal law at Maastricht University. In addition to her studies, she works at our office one or more days a week as a legal assistant.
